Join / RenewAloha and welcome to Hawaii Masters Swimming Association, proud hosts of the 2002 USMS Short Course National Championships. We are the organizing body for the state of Hawaii's adult swimming community under United States Masters Swimming.

U.S. Masters Swimming LogoUnited States Masters Swimming (USMS) is a national organization that provides organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, and non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming, and is organized with 500 clubs throughout the nation.

For new members, clubs and event hosts we hope you will find all the information you are looking for, however if you have any questions, please do contact us.

For visitors to Hawaii and new masters swimmers, please visit our "Swim Clubs" information to find the nearest workouts and their schedules for all our masters clubs throughout the state.  Visitors should also check Ocean Swimming before venturing into unfamiliar waters.

For Triathletes, How should you train for the swim part of your race?  Is it best just to focus on the bike & run because they're a bigger part of the race?  Should you do a swim clinic?  Because More than running or biking, swimming is about technique, Hawaii Masters Swimming makes the case that you'd be best at getting swim-fit (reducing heart-rate going into the bike, not to mention leg fatigue from kicking) by swimming with a masters team under the trained eye of a swim coach.

We hope you enjoy our site, and if you have any questions, suggestions, comments or ideas, please do contact our chair at chair@hawaiimastersswim.org

Important USMS rule change (1/5/2009)

As of October 1st, 2009, the new tech suits cannot be used in pool swim meets for Short Course Yards.  Suits must be fabric, above the knees and up to the shoulders with no sleeves nor high-neck.  The rules are slightly different for USA-Swimming (age group) vs USMS: USA-S men can only wear above the knees and below the waist.  For Short Course Meters and Long Course Meters meets, USMS will be following whatever rules & implementation dates FINA comes down with.
