Join / RenewAloha and welcome to Hawaii Masters Swimming Association, proud hosts of the 2002 USMS Short Course National Championships. We are the organizing body for the state of Hawaii's adult swimming community under United States Masters Swimming.

U.S. Masters Swimming LogoUnited States Masters Swimming (USMS) is a national organization that provides organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, and non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming, and is organized with 500 clubs throughout the nation.

For new members, clubs and event hosts we hope you will find all the information you are looking for, however if you have any questions, please do contact us.

For visitors to Hawaii and new masters swimmers, please visit our "Swim Clubs" information to find the nearest workouts and their schedules for all our masters clubs throughout the state.  Visitors should also check Ocean Swimming before venturing into unfamiliar waters.

For Triathletes, How should you train for the swim part of your race?  Is it best just to focus on the bike & run because they're a bigger part of the race?  Should you do a swim clinic?  Because More than running or biking, swimming is about technique, Hawaii Masters Swimming makes the case that you'd be best at getting swim-fit (reducing heart-rate going into the bike, not to mention leg fatigue from kicking) by swimming with a masters team under the trained eye of a swim coach.

We hope you enjoy our site, and if you have any questions, suggestions, comments or ideas, please do contact our chair at chair@hawaiimastersswim.org

Go The Distance LogoGO THE DISTANCE!

The fitness event "Go the Distance" (GTD) is once again being offered by the U.S. Masters Swimming Fitness Committee in 2009! Please read the event announcement (PDF file) for complete details.

Just sign-up at www.USMS.org, then email or snail-mail your distances once/month to USMS.  There is a log sheet on the USMS site for you to print out and record your distances.  You'll be recognized on the USMS site and there are special awards you can purchase at the end of the year.

There's a virtual "scenic" way many will swim ... 200 miles to Key West.  That's like swimming from Maalaea to Lihue, Mokuokahailani Rock to Hanauma Bay, from Molokai to Oahu then from Oahu to Kauai, or all the way around the Big Island!  Take it one swim at a time.  Partner up with a friend you swim with and see how far you can go.

RESULTS FROM MASTERS SCY NATIONALS

Masters SCY Nationals May 6-10 in Clovis CA at Clovis North High School just completed last weekend.  Congratulations to our two Hawaii Masters ... in results
